NeurIPS Meetup 2019

WE HELD THE OFFICIAL NEURIPS SATELLITE EVENT

Between December 13 and 15, inzva held a 3-day event, Neural Information Processing Systems NeurIPS Meetup 2019, which was the first official remote meetup simultaneously organized worldwide by many institutions focusing on AI-related studies.

The idea for the local meetups was announced by NeurIPS to make the conference more accessible to all AI enthusiasts, who not only want to keep up with the newest advancements in the field but also have productive discussions with like-minded people about the conference tutorials, workshops and presentations streamed online.

GIVING AN EAR TO OUR AI COMMUNITY

Before designing on the schedule of the meetup, inzva asked over 20 participants coming to the event to state their preferences about the whole schedule to pick from the list of sessions streamed and determined the discussion papers in line with their choices, which made it possible for us to create a program, full of most voted and awaited presentations, workshops and tutorials according our local AI Community. AIMING TO MAKE COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDIES MORE ACCESSIBLE

Since the first day, one of the many goals of inzva was to create a more inclusive environment for all practitioners aspiring to improve their skills, whether they are currently academics, practicing  engineers or students in a relevant field. As the number of remote events coordinated by the field’s established conferences increase, inzva will also keep holding meetups designed to align the contents streamed online and published to the community’s needs.

In addition to the paper discussions, we watched one of the most expected talks, Yoshua Bengio’s “From System 1 Deep Learning to System 2 Deep Learning”, featured in the conference together with our community.
