AI PROJECTS #9
We're thrilled to announce the 9th batch of our AI Projects, where participants collaborate in teams to develop innovative AI projects over a three-month period, following two weeks of onboarding!
If you’re eager to collaborate on AI-focused projects with a community of fellow enthusiasts tackling academic and real-world challenges in areas like computer vision, NLP, medical applications, image classification, and object detection, or if you have the motivation to build a project but don’t know where to start or who to work with - this program is for you!
The AI Projects is designed to support teams who are interested in applying to workshops and/or challenges at prestigious conferences, as well as individuals looking to expand their portfolio. We will start this batch on May 30 and showcase the projects on September 27.
Curious to explore the details of the projects? Take a closer look at what we have done before by reviewing the 7th and 8th batch reports of the program.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In AI Projects, we host regular meetups and guide project groups as they design and run their own projects over 16 weeks. Participants are encouraged to team up, choose a project idea, and work together throughout the program.
Click to view the detailed schedule!
This year, we’ll divide participants into experienced and junior groups and start with a two-week onboarding process. During this period, experienced participants will team up, select their projects, and work on their proposals and project roadmaps. Meanwhile, junior participants will focus on adapting to the program by working through notebooks before joining the projects.
Our onboarding process begins at Beykoz Kundura. We will review the project ideas, brainstorm, and get our hands dirty before the real rush begins!
After that, we’ll gather again at Beykoz Kundura to form our groups and finalize the projects. In addition to our regular meetups, we encourage project groups to hold weekly meetings to work on their projects. We’ll also ask for brief weekly reports to track your progress.
The AI Projects program is roughly divided into three sections: project idea & group formation, literature research, and implementation. You’ll be guided throughout the program, and if you stick to the schedule, we’ll make sure you get a lot out of this experience!
OUR SPACE

AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS PROGRAM?
You are a good fit for The AI Projects if you:
● Are a graduate of or a student in relevant study areas (computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, statistics, molecular biology, electrical and electronics engineering, mathematical engineering, industrial engineering, etc.),
or have completed the deeplearning.ai specialization (or equivalent AI courses),
or have a portfolio to prove a good understanding of the most common ML subjects. Please note that having basic programming knowledge will not be sufficient for this program. By applying, you accept that you have the required skills to fully take part in all stages of a project.
● Have the technical understanding to read and understand academic papers or documentations on AI and deep learning projects.,
● Ready to work as part of a project team,
● Can stay motivated enough to devote 3 months to a project.
WHAT AM I GETTING OUT OF THIS?
● Collaboration with other people working/studying in this domain,
● Hands-on work and research to build up a portfolio,
● Recognition (Our project group members will be featured on inzva’s website and on GitHub),
●In addition to the required computing power (inzva’s GPU hardware) that will help you implement your project, we also provide you with the necessary and laid-back virtual environment to brainstorm and socialize with like-minded people.
●The participants will have the opportunity to present their thought processes and project outcomes to other AI enthusiasts from various backgrounds (including those from other universities, non-profits, industry, as well as academics) in our showcase.
You can see the showcase of our 8th batch here.
●A solid online presence by getting featured on the inzva website through blog posts and/or videos.
●Experience with the means to write an academic paper if you wish to submit your work.
●Each team will get assistance from the AI team, who will be helping them throughout the
process and answering questions about all stages of the project development. This assistance can be about the ways to write an academic paper, make a full-fledged presentation, provide support for content development, and more!
WHAT DO WE EXPECT?
● Please remember that these project groups are based on teamwork and collaborative learning, which means that we will be expecting your active contribution. By joining this program, you accept that you will spare at least 60 hours over the course of 4 months (4 hours per week) to develop your project and attend the abovementioned meetings, as attendance is mandatory. Please remember that it is mandatory to attend the virtual meetings as well, of course, apart from emergency situations. Please make sure to check the meetup dates.
● At the end of the 16-week period, we expect our teams to deliver a brief presentation expressing their thought process and project outcomes to an audience composed of our community members and/or AI enthusiasts focusing on the field at the academic or professional level. Since we are working with a time limit, we encourage you to find a project (or better, a paper) with available code and data; we will send you a spreadsheet like this one where you can write your proposed ideas upon acceptance, and you will pitch your ideas during the first meetup in a 2-minute presentation. (Do not worry! We will send you the format and everything.)
● We expect you to implement and understand the paper or the problem you are working on, at least enough to reproduce the results of the paper and try new approaches to improve it if possible.
● Keep the GitHub repository of your project updated.
● Write a blog post about the project as a giveback to the community.
Please note that inzva will share all the projects in its own GitHub repository and publish the blog post on the website.
