Deep Learning Study Group 2024 is Over!

This year, our community came together to create materials designed to dive into Deep Learning, introduce new AI concepts, and gain more hands-on experience! We introduced a brand-new curriculum featuring bundled resources and interactive notebooks, all thoughtfully curated in an open-source GitHub repository.

On September 7, we started off with an introduction to Neural Networks and Deep Learning, explored common tasks such as Image Classification and Object Detection, and wrapped up with trending topics like Large Language Models and Generative Models. Throughout the program, participants tackled two assignments and participated in a Kaggle challenge as groups, getting even more hands-on experience and teamwork!

Of the 270 applicants, 61 participants took part in the program, and 40 of them proudly graduated after completing all their homework assignments and excelling in Kaggle challenges!

Our guides and contributors, proud graduates of previous Deep Learning Study Groups, generously shared their knowledge to enhance this year's program. Under the leadership of our AI Team member Sarper Yurtseven, they worked tirelessly to create an exceptional learning experience. Special thanks to our guides and contributors Berfin Duman, Berkin Deniz Kahya, Bike Sönmez, Emir Faruk Erman, Gürkan Soykan, İrem Zırhlıoğlu, Melih Darcan, Şafak Bilici, Sarper Yurtseven, Simge Şenyüz, Şilan Fidan Vural, and Tarık Can Özden for developing the outstanding curriculum and materials!

It wasn’t all work—we made room for fun too! We organized a career event featuring an engaging session with Ahmet Utku Yavuz, Gökçe İymen, Hasan Avcı, Kerem Avcı, and Mehmet Arif Demirtaş. Moreover, we had two in-person meetups where we connected beyond the screens and enjoyed some games together!

HOW DID OUR PARTICIPANTS DO?

Community Feedback

“ I joined this study group with only a basic understanding of deep learning theory, but I’m leaving with so much more: a supportive community, hands-on experience, and the confidence to participate in deep learning projects. I am impressed by the thought and effort our guides put into the curriculum and our Saturday sessions. We also had the chance to hear our guides’ professional experiences and advice, which helped me shape my future career steps.”

“It was a great experience for me because I got to meet like-minded people who were ambitious to learn and teach. At the same time, I learned a lot about Deep Learning and AI-related subjects. I was always hearing about inzva before but I couldn't get a chance to take place in an event. Deep Learning Study Group was a great start. If you are a computer engineering student who is an AI enthusiast, this might be the right place to start.”
