inzva AI Labs Joint Program #2

In Collaboration with METU ImageLab Report

We have concluded the second batch of our AI Labs Joint Program with remarkable researcher Gökberk Cinbiş from METU ImageLab. We have made his course Deep Generative Models accessible to our community which is open to grad students at Middle East Technical University. It was held from July 31 to September 18 for 8 weeks in which participants met online every Saturday and discussed the course videos of the week, reviewed the weekly assignment they solved with our guides.

8 sessions offered topics that covered a review of probability, statistics, autoregressive models and maximum likelihood estimation, latent variable models, variational approximation, normalizing flow models, GANs, Hybrid Models and Discrete Latent Variable Models. All the notebooks our guides prepared are solved and uploaded to our GitHub account with open access to benefit the community. 22 graduates from 13 different universities held pair coding sessions as teams and solved notebooks once a day.  Our guides, who prepared the notebooks in line with the course content were talented members of our AI community currently studying or doing their PhDs at acclaimed Turkish universities such as Boğaziçi University, Aalto University, and Hacettepe University.

COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

Metehan Seyran

“The program was well-prepared and covered a wide range of topics related to Generative Networks. It was an amazing and productive 8 weeks participating in this program. Being a participant with many intelligent individuals and guided by amazing guides and Dr. Gökberk Cinbiş that are experts in this field has motivated and taught me much to learn about Generative networks. Additionally, assignments that have been prepared each week, have reinforced the theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as encouraged us to meet and socialize with other participants by solving assignments together in groups. At the end of the program, I am able to read, understand, and implement concepts related to Generative Networks. In the future, I will definitely participate in this program, recommend this program to my friends, and maybe be one of the guides for this program. Keep up the good work!”
