Google Developers Machine Learning Bootcamp 2022 Report

As inzva, after organizing 8 batches of Deep Learning Study Group and 6 batches of Applied AI Study Group since 2018, we are proud to organize Google Developers Machine Learning Bootcamp #1 between July 7 and November 26, 2022, in partnership with Google Developers. It was a remarkable experience for us to be carrying out this global project for the first time in Turkey, along with many other places from around the world including India, Japan, Latin America, South Korea, and Europe.

After a tough qualification process, we launched the Bootcamp on July 13th with a kick-off meeting that brought together a select group of 154 talented individuals out of 1527 applicants. In the kick-off meeting, participants had the opportunity to get together with people from Google Developers and inzva team. Moreover, participants learned about the program in depth and had a chance to meet each other.

Among the 154 participants, 131 of them graduated from Deep Learning Specialization, 105 participants earned the TensorFlow Certificate and 103 participants successfully completed the Kaggle challenge. Moreover, 65 participants managed to be in the top %25 of the challenge leaderboard!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

In this 4.5-month program, we try to provide an environment for AI Enthusiasts to study alongside like-minded people, raise fruitful discussions with members of our AI community and increase their knowledge of ML problems. We've gathered every Saturday since July 16 to complete the Deep Learning Specialization Program, following the TensorFlow Certification Program, and completed a Kaggle Challenge to test our problem-solving skills.

For 12 weeks, we discussed the materials on Deep Learning.ai Specialization Course with our precious guides Ahmet Melek, Enes Sadi Uysal, Gizem Tanrıver, Gönül Aycı, Güldeniz Bektaş, İrem Zırhlıoğlu, Mehmet Arif Demirtaş, Mehmet Kerem Avcı, Mehmet Yiğit Özgenç, Onur Boyar, Sarper Yurtseven, and Şafak Bilici. 

At the end of the 12 weeks, 131 participants who attended the classes at a rate of 70% and were successful in the exams graduated from the Deep Learning Specialization program and received their Deep Learning Specialization certificates from Coursera! 

After the 4-week track of the TensorFlow Certification Program guided by Gürkan Soykan, Kerem Avcı, Yusuf Sarıgöz, and Zeynep Abalı, 105 participants successfully completed the TF certification exam!

In the final step of the bootcamp, the TensorFlow Program was followed by the 3 week Kaggle Challenge Program. In the first week of the challenge, Kerem Avcı and Sarper Yurtseven introduced us the Spaceship Titanic Challenge that we will be working on. Throughout the two weeks following the Introduction, we discussed the solutions of Rabia Eda Yılmaz and Yunus Serhat Bıçakçı. 

At the end of the three weeks, 103 participants solved the challenge and 65 of them managed to be in the top %25 of the challenge leaderboard!

At the end of the program, 20 participants get the opportunity to take the certification exams of Professional Data Engineer Certificate or Professional Machine Learning Engineer Certificate, offered by Google Cloud.

The fact that the entire program was online has allowed more participants to join the program and our community has grown even more! Outside of the lectures, we kept interacting on discord channels, held face-to-face gatherings, organized a movie night, and managed to grow the Star Wars community as well!
