Algorithm Competition Summer Camp 2023

The weather has warmed up, the summer has made Kundura even greener and we successfully completed the inzva classic of the summer season: the Algorithm Competition Summer Camp.

253 students applied to the camp. Out of them 205 participants signed up for the 60-hour Qualification Round and sent a total of 3773 submissions! We facilitated a meeting environment by uniting 51 participants from 14 universities. This transformed a week-long journey focused on algorithms into a shared and enjoyable experience for all.

Among our participants were members from Middle East Technical University, Hacettepe University, Bilkent University, Istanbul Technical University, Boğaziçi University, Yıldız Technical University, Sabancı University, Ankara University, Koç University, Turkish-German University, Yaşar University, Yeditepe University, Işık University, and Sakarya University.

We warmly welcomed both previous and new members to our algorithm community.

Our algorithm team and guides, Serra Bozkurt, Emin Ersüs, Ömer Faruk Özkan, Berke Dönmez, Melih Akpınar, Murat Biberoğlu, Muti Kara, Furkan Cebe, Atakan Yaşar, and Alperen Tupurtu designed a curriculum for the entire camp, catering to three levels: Advanced, Intermediate, and Foundation. They gave lectures and provided our participants with lots of problem-solving questions throughout the week for Thanks to their effort, we owe the quality of education to our beloved guides.

Guide Team

Beyza Nur Deniz Boğaziçi University, Computer Engineering, Participant of Summer Camp ’23

“I had such a good time being among people who share the same interest and enthusiasm as me. We helped each other so much as well as our amazing guides. Also, the physical qualities of the Beykoz Kundura gave us opportunities to participate in excellent social and physical activities. I feel so lucky to have a chance to be part of this community and I hope to attend many events in the future.”

Our camp was held in Beykoz Kundura from June 19 to 25. During the camp, we carried out many social activities with our participants as well as intensive training. We organized a Kundura tour and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We had a week full of social activities, such as tournament and movie nights.

To share the experience, we had an interview session with our algorithm team and guides Serra Bozkurt, Emin Ersüs, Ömer Faruk Özkan, Melih Akpınar and Furkan Cebe, where our algorithm enthusiasts learned about company interviews and the type of the algorithm problems asked during them. In addition, the resumes of some of our participants were reviewed and an interactive discussion session was held.

The Interview Session

We had an amazing Martial Art class with Red Corner. Thanks to Adnan Erzen, it has been an edifying and fun lesson.

Safa Eren Kuday Bilkent University, Computer Engineering, Participant of Summer Camp’23

“I had an incredible and exhilarating experience at the Algorithm Summer Camp 2023! Not only did it provide a fantastic opportunity to learn algorithms, but it also brought together curious algorithm enthusiasts from all over Turkey, forming a great community for me to both learn efficiently and spend an amazing time together. It was a quite unique event that was fun, full of activities, and it helped everyone to learn very important algorithmic concepts deeply in a very short amount of time. I always try to sharpen my analytical skills together with like-minded people which I believe is the most important thing for improving one’s mind and becoming a great scientist or engineer, and inzva camps are proven to be great places for these.”

We held an interview with Tarık Yıldırım, the founder of the BEV foundation. He talked about himself, the foundation of the BEV, and answered the participants’ questions. Thanks to Tarık Yıldırım for this inspirational talk and support!

After a week of intensive training, during which many lectures were given and numerous problems were solved, the final contest day arrived for the participants. While the participants in our intermediate and advanced groups competed individually, the foundation group competed in teams of 2.
